Clean Industry Certification
In Mexico, any company in an industry which aims to improve upon the areas of Safety, Health or Environment (SH&E) is entitled to participate in a program to be audited by the Mexican Environmental Protection Agency in order to receive a “Clean Industry” designation. Signa decided to enroll in this program in 2002 and has been working since then to comply with all requirements.
In 2007 Signa’s action plan was fully compliant and the Certification was granted. In July 2012, after a second audit, Signa was re-certified. The “Clean Industry” Certificate means that our company is committed to integrating SH&E excellence into our business activities and holds technical and professional knowledge to prevent accidents, illnesses and negative environmental impacts.
Responsible Care Program
In September 2010, the Risk Engineering Management System at Signa was certified by the Chemical Industry Association in Mexico, based on a Responsible Care Program initiated in Canada several years ago and adopted in Mexico some time later. Having a formal management system, SH&E areas are involved in a continuous improvement process, as audits take place every three years.
Environmental Responsibility & Awareness
Signa adopted a piece of Land in a public park to be forested and every year, on several Saturdays throughout the year, employees of Signa attend “Morelos Park”, close to Toluca City, in order to plant trees and take care of them.
For 15 years planting trees has been a continuous activity in Toluca to reduce negative environmental impact. This activity helps as well to improve environmental awareness of new generations.
